Published studies describe the complex in several research contexts, including collagen synthesis, antioxidant behaviour, and wound repair models. Much of this work is conducted in cultured cells or in small animal systems, and the findings are frequently cited in reviews of copper peptides. Direct clinical evidence in humans is comparatively limited, and reported outcomes vary with formulation and study design. Whether free chain or metal-bound form was used is not always stated, a point that complicates comparison between reports.
GHK-Cu is a coordination complex formed between the peptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine and a copper(II) ion. The unbound chain, abbreviated GHK, consists of three amino acids and occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Binding of the metal is mediated mainly by the imidazole nitrogen of the histidine residue together with backbone amides, producing a stable chelate. Ingredient nomenclature often lists the same substance as copper tripeptide-1. Its charge and solubility behaviour differ from those of the metal-free chain.
Routine handling calls for minimizing freeze-thaw cycles and preparing solutions shortly before use. Glass or inert plastic containers reduce adsorption and metal leaching. Working stocks are often kept at 2–8 °C for short periods, while long-term reference material stays at −20 °C or below. Light protection is prudent because prolonged exposure may accelerate oxidation of the peptide. Documentation of lot number, concentration, and preparation date supports reproducibility in laboratory work.
Analytical verification typically combines reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet-visible detection. The copper complex absorbs visible light near 600–630 nm, giving a characteristic blue signal. Mass spectrometry confirms molecular mass and can detect free peptide or mismatched copper stoichiometry. Copper content is often measured independently by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry or atomic absorption spectroscopy. Purity, counterion identity, and residual solvents are additional quality-control parameters that methods may address.
Solid GHK-Cu is generally stored as a dry powder under frozen conditions to limit degradation. The peptide bond can hydrolyze, and the copper center can be displaced by strong chelators such as EDTA. Aqueous solutions are less stable than the solid and may lose color or form precipitates over time. Temperature, pH, and oxygen exposure are the main variables that affect shelf life. Neutral to slightly acidic conditions tend to preserve the complex better than strongly alkaline media.
| Property | Value | Notes |

| Molecular formula | C14H22N6O4Cu | Reported for the 1:1 complex |
| Principal binding site | Histidine imidazole nitrogen | Backbone amides contribute additional coordination |
| Common synonym | Copper tripeptide-1 | Used in ingredient and product labelling |
Analytical verification commonly relies on high-performance liquid chromatography for purity assessment and mass spectrometry for identity confirmation. Spectroscopic methods such as UV-visible absorption and electron paramagnetic resonance can probe the metal centre itself, since the d9 configuration of copper(II) produces characteristic signals. Elemental analysis or plasma-based techniques quantify copper content. Because each method reports a different aspect of the same sample, purity figures are most meaningful when the technique and its detection wavelength are stated alongside the value.
Stability of the complex in solution depends on pH, temperature, and the presence of competing ligands. It is generally described as more resistant to breakdown than the metal-free chain, since coordination reduces susceptibility to enzymatic attack. Oxidation and hydrolysis can nevertheless proceed over time in aqueous media. Storage guidance in laboratory settings commonly involves refrigeration, protection from light, and avoidance of strongly alkaline conditions. Published data on long-term behaviour vary considerably and depend on the specific matrix.
The peptide sequence places a histidine in the middle, and this residue dominates metal binding. Copper(II) coordinates through the imidazole nitrogen of histidine and the terminal amino group, forming a stable chelate ring system. Loss of the copper ion leaves the free tripeptide, which has different solubility and reactivity. This structural detail matters because assays that measure only the peptide backbone can miss whether copper is still bound to it.
Several names circulate for the same material, which complicates literature searches. Cosmetic ingredient lists often use copper tripeptide-1, while older biochemistry papers use glycyl-L-histidyl-lysine or its abbreviation GHK. The copper complex is sometimes written as GHK-Cu(II) to make the oxidation state explicit. Terminology is not fully standardized, so matching a compound across sources requires attention to the exact sequence, the counterion, and the stated copper content. Reviews that compare studies must account for these naming differences before drawing conclusions.
The sequence carries three residues in the order glycine, histidine, lysine, which places a small, flexible chain around a single metal centre. Compared with larger copper-binding proteins, the complex is compact and its coordination chemistry can be reproduced with synthetic peptide in a laboratory. Published structural work agrees on the nitrogen donor set but differs in the exact geometry assigned under some conditions, so the arrangement is best treated as well characterised in outline rather than fixed in every detail.
GHK-Cu is a coordination complex formed between the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine and a copper(II) ion. The peptide was isolated from human plasma in the early 1970s by Loren Pickart, who observed that a plasma fraction from young donors stimulated growth in cultured liver cells. The copper-bound form is abbreviated GHK-Cu, while the metal-free peptide is written simply as GHK. In the research literature the complex also appears as copper tripeptide-1 and as glycyl-histidyl-lysine copper complex.
== Release == An error on the Steam store page for the Valve Index listed a release date of 15 June 2019 initially. The headset eventually released on 28 June 2019, priced at US$999 for the full kit containing the headset itself, Knuckles controllers and tracking sensors. The Valve Index sold an estimated 149,000 sets in 2019. 103,000 were in the fourth quarter following the announcement of Valve's flagship VR game, Half-Life: Alyx, which was made free to Index owners, so that they could get the best possible experience with the title, whilst also giving access to limited time exclusive content in-game. The sudden demand caused the unit to be sold out in all 31 countries except Japan in January 2020. While Valve had anticipated supply for many of those that had ordered the Index in time for the March 2020 release of Half-Life: Alyx, the COVID-19 pandemic slowed production, which left Valve with a reduced number of units available on the release date. As of January 2025, 13.2% of the VR units connected to Steam are Valve Index sets.
==== United States investigations ==== GlaxoSmithKline was being investigated by the FDA and the US Congress regarding Avandia. Senators Democrat Max Baucus and Republican Charles Grassley filed a report urging GSK to withdraw Avandia in 2008 due to the side effects. The report noted the drug caused 500 avoidable heart attacks a month, and Glaxo officials sought to intimidate doctors who criticized the drug. It also said GSK continued to sell and promote the drug despite knowing the increased risk of heart attacks and stroke. The Senate Finance Committee, in a panel investigation, revealed emails from GSK company officials that suggest the company downplayed scientific findings about safety risks dating back to 2000. It was also alleged by the committee that the company initiated a "ghostwriting campaign", whereby GSK sought outside companies to write positive articles about Avandia to submit to medical journals. GSK defended itself by presenting data that its own tests found Avandia to be safe, although an FDA staff report showed the conclusions were flawed. On July 14, 2010, after two days of extensive deliberations, the FDA panel investigating Avandia came to a mixed vote. Twelve members of the panel voted to take the drug off the market, 17 recommended to leave it on but with a more revised warning label, and three voted to keep it on the market with the current warning label.
=== Organized crime allegations === Thaçi was alleged of having extensive criminal links. During his time as head of the Kosovo Liberation Army, The Washington Times reported that the KLA was financing its activities by trafficking heroin and cocaine into western Europe. The KLA received an estimated $75–100 million from the Albanian diaspora in Europe and the United States. There is a possibility that among donors to the KLA were people involved in illegal activities such as drug trafficking; however, insufficient evidence exists to prove direct KLA involvement. The BBC reported in 2000 that Thaçi was allegedly central to the criminal activities of the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC), who reportedly extorted money from businessmen under the guise of "taxes" for his self-appointed government. While the KLA was officially disbanded at the end of armed conflict in Kosovo in 1999, the new Kosovo Protection Corps was composed primarily of former KLA fighters and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). The party was formed largely from the political leadership of the KLA. A near monopoly on the means of force, based on the absorption of the KLA into the KPC, allowed the Democratic Party of Kosovo to seize control of the machinery of government at the municipal level. The PDK regularly used violence and intimidation of political rivals to maintain local political control and protect criminal enterprises that depend upon cooperation from friendly local authorities. In 2001, the Democratic Party of Kosovo suffered electoral defeat in the first free elections in the province in 2001.
Immature granulocyte Immature granulocytes are immature forms of neutrophils and other granulocytes (eosinophils and basophils). This classification consists of metamyelocytes, myelocytes and promyelocytes, which may be enumerated separately in the manual differential or reported together as immature granulocytes (IG) by automated methods. Immature granulocytes are normally found in the bone marrow, but not in peripheral blood. When present in significant quantities in the blood, immature granulocytes can indicate infection and inflammation, as well as myeloproliferative disease, leukaemia and other conditions affecting the marrow. IGs may also be increased in steroid use and pregnancy. Chronic myeloid leukaemia often presents with a high number of immature granulocytes in the peripheral blood. Abnormal promyelocytes with multiple Auer rods, called faggot cells, occur in acute promyelocytic leukaemia.

=== Route planning and driver management === Modern route planning software can optimize routes not only for time and fuel efficiency but also to minimize risks to temperature-sensitive cargo. This can include avoiding areas with high ambient temperatures or known traffic congestion that could strain refrigeration units. Furthermore, driver scoring systems are used to monitor driving behavior. Gentle driving with smooth acceleration and braking is important to prevent load shifting and damage to delicate products like fresh produce or pharmaceuticals.
Cryofixation is a technique for fixation or stabilisation of biological materials as the first step in specimen preparation for the electron microscopy and cryo-electron microscopy. Typical specimens for cryofixation include small samples of plant or animal tissue, cell suspensions of microorganisms or cultured cells, suspensions of viruses or virus capsids and samples of purified macromolecules, especially proteins. Types of cryo-fixation are freezing-drying, freezing-substitution and freezing-etching.
== Controversies == Following a shortage that led a court to delay an execution in California, a company spokesman for Hospira, the sole American manufacturer of the drug, objected to the use of thiopental in lethal injection. "Hospira manufactures this product because it improves or saves lives, and the company markets it solely for use as indicated on the product labeling. The drug is not indicated for capital punishment and Hospira does not support its use in this procedure." On January 21, 2011, the company announced that it would stop production of sodium thiopental from its plant in Italy, because it could not provide Italian authorities with guarantees that exported doses would not be used in executions. According to a company spokesperson, Italy was the only viable place where it could produce the drug, leaving the US without a supplier. In October 2015 the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confiscated an overseas shipment of thiopental destined for the states of Arizona and Texas. The FDA said in a statement, "Courts have concluded that sodium thiopental for the injection in humans is an unapproved drug and may not be imported into the country".
On the back of each monochrome package, the Wrigley Company included an explanation for the company's marketing decision: "So this is kind of awkward, but we're just gonna go ahead and address the rainbow-colored elephant in the room. You have the rainbow... we have the rainbow... and usually that's just hunky-dory. But this Pride, only one rainbow deserves to be the centre of attention - yours. And we're not going to be the ones to steal your rainbow thunder, no siree." However, the message was met with confusion in some areas, with The Huffington Post publishing an article titled "Some People Think Skittles' All-White Pride Candies Are Racist", exploring the idea that by going all-white, the company failed to acknowledge the diversity defined by the LGBT community. Every June, Skittles repeats the colorless marketing to spread Pride awareness and raise proceeds for an LGBT charity, such as the Switchboard helpline in the United Kingdom. For the 2020 Pride edition, Skittles changed the candy colors from a rainbow to all gray in the United States, with the tagline "Only one rainbow matters during PRIDE". However, the white color continued to be used in countries such as the United Kingdom. Skittles' marketing has become known for its avant-garde viral marketing techniques, particularly in conjunction with the Super Bowl. In 2018, it produced a Super Bowl commercial that was viewed by only one person. In 2019, it conducted a pre-Super Bowl campaign featuring Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical, which was performed one time only at The Town Hall in New York City.
=== Cross-linking reactions === Formaldehyde forms cross-links by first combining with a protein to form methylol, which loses a water molecule to form a Schiff base. The Schiff base can then react with DNA or protein to create a cross-linked product. This reaction is the basis for the most common process of chemical fixation.

Despite these allegations, Rose stated she had loved her daughter and had no knowledge of her murder. Further questioned about the contradictory explanations she and Fred had given about Heather's disappearance, Rose claimed these discrepancies had stemmed from telephone conversations she had had with Heather after she had left home. The defence next called a succession of women who claimed to have been attacked or assaulted between 1966 and 1975 by a lone male whose physical description matched that of Fred. These seven women each testified they had recognised their attacker as Fred when his photograph was publicised in 1994. The intention of this testimony was to illustrate to the jury that Fred was capable of abducting, assaulting or attempting to attack women without Rose, which the prosecution had never disputed. The physical recollections of several of these women varied greatly. The final witness to testify at Rose's trial was Janet Leach, Fred's appointed appropriate adult, whom the prosecution had called to testify on 7 November in rebuttal of the tape recordings of Fred's confession, which had been played to the court on 3 November, in which he had stressed Rose had "known nothing at all" about the murders.
In 2005, Katja Seipel and Volker Schmid suggested that cnidarians and ctenophores are simplified descendants of triploblastic animals, since ctenophores and the medusa stage of some cnidarians have striated muscle, which in bilaterians arises from the mesoderm. They did not commit themselves on whether bilaterians evolved from early cnidarians or from the hypothesized triploblastic ancestors of cnidarians. Resolving the evolutionary relationships within Cnidaria has also been challenging, with almost every possible combination of clades being proposed. As time went on though, a semi-consensus has started to emerge. The enigmatic Polypodium hydriforme and subphylum Myxozoa have been firmly placed within the Cnidaria and have been shown to be closely related to the Medusozoa. In addition, these two groups have been found to likely be each other's closest relatives which, if true, would form the clade "Endocnidozoa". The relationships within the Medusozoa are currently probably the most contentious part of the tree. Traditionally, the class Scyphozoa also included Staurozoa and Cubozoa, but significant morphological differences eventually lead to the split of the three. The group containing them has since been named "Acraspeda". The relationships between these three and Hydrozoa have since and still are debated. A relationship between Scyphozoa and Cubozoa with Staurozoa as its sister has seen support in nearly all studies, but the position of the remaining class, Hydrozoa, is not understood.

GHK denotes the unbound chain of three amino acids. GHK-Cu describes the form in which a copper(II) ion is held by that chain. The two are not interchangeable in solution, since charge, molecular weight, and reactivity differ.
The chain occurs in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Measured amounts are reported to fall with age. Copper binding by the sequence is treated as part of normal metal handling in tissue.
The bound copper(II) centre contributes to redox behaviour and to stability under physiological conditions. Free copper ions can participate in reactions that generate reactive species, while chelated metal is generally more controlled. The chain may also serve as a carrier for copper in experimental systems.
Dry powder is typically stored frozen at −20 °C or lower, protected from moisture and light. Short-term working amounts may be kept refrigerated. Avoiding repeated temperature changes helps preserve the material.
